2008 Bands Freekbass has collaborated with funk legend, Bootsy Collins, for several projects, the most recent being Freekbass', The Air Is Fresher Underground, released in late October, 2003. Underground features guest appearances by Bootsy, Catfish Collins, Buckethead, Bernie Worrell and a few of the Woo Warriors, to name a few. This is Freekbass' second album to be executive produced by Bootsy, the first being Body Over Mind, Gemini/Bootzilla, 2001. The whole Freekbass story, however, goes back to the very first "Bootsy" collaboration.  Guitar virtuoso Fareed Haque enjoys a career that spans the spectrum of musical styles.  Charlie Hunter is an American jazz, rock and fusion guitarist. He played a seven-string guitar and organ in Michael Franti's political rap group, The Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy.  (aka - toes) sounds like : black crowes, john scofield, peter tosh, johnny cash, and the allman brothers had a love child.  Formed in early 2005, One Under has quickly become the newest emerging musical force to come out of Ohio. The sextet is comprised of former members of Ekoostik Hookah, The Shantee and The Ark Band and is forging a sound incorporating elements of Roots Rock, American Jazz, Progressive Rock, Afro-Cuban Latin and Pure Funk Back Beat. This combination manifests into a danceable and energetic show that keeps people on their feet.  Family Groove Company is a four piece band from Chicago that is turning heads and catching ears with a sound that is uncannily fresh, and live performances that simply envelop audiences in the fun, excitement and passion that the band radiates from the stage. Growing audiences everywhere FGC plays attest to the impact the band is beginning to make, as they bring the excitement of their live performances to ever growing venues, in more and more cities across the country.

 JP & The Chatfield Boys is an Ohio-based national act with variably deep Mid-Western roots and some serious talent.  The inspiration that became Skeleton Crew started in 1998 in Dayton, Ohio with two kindred souls playing the music of the Grateful Dead together. After spending time getting the tunes and the players together, we hit the stage in 2000. When the music made a left turn mid-set and moved off into space, we knew the ride had begun!  Born in St. Mary’s, Ohio, “Razz” was influenced and obsessed with music at an early age.  Purple Overcoat was born after Denis "auditioned" with chopsticks on a half broken drum set in August 2005.  Lotus Groove brings some of the most exciting in-your-face jams with the perfect balance of soul and substance.  The Human Co-Op is a new Funkjunk Jamgrass Band. Zach "Truckstop Jesus" Laffin and Travis "Rosko" Hodosko began playing together in early 2004 at open mics in Allen Co. Ohio. Wabbac's Cap Band Bio Coming Soon…  Will Freed plays as a solo, duo, and band accoustic act all throughout Ohio. You can frequently catch a performance all over Northwest and Central Ohio, as well as Dayton, Toledo, and Cincinnati. Will Freed Band just wrapped up a busy summer, gaining popularity and opening for National acts such as Hinder, Papa Roach, BuckCherry, and John Popper of Blues Traveler. Divine Day first came together as a group in January 2007. At that point, they were just four youthful individuals who all shared the same passion for writing and playing music.  Mike has been writing songs for going on 2 decades now. He recently realized that songwriting is the thing he does best.  The Late Great Lucian Townes is a folk, blues musician out of Toledo, Ohio. Lucian has been playing for several years now and recently assembled a collective of musicians known as the Towne Choir. |
