The Ohms

The Ohms are a hybrid of different Cincinnati bands with some original members and some new members. They have currently been on the circuit now for 8 years strong. The Ohms started out as an experimentation between current drummer Chet Johnson and current Lead Guitarist and Vocalist David Danforth. Danforth was but the young age of 16 when he met Ohms Drummer Johnson. They used to Jam at Johnsons family church and learn Phish and Grateful Dead cover songs. The two had so much fun that they decided to Invite in one of Johnson's old buddys from Jazz band Alex Hall to the mix. The three collaberated on original material and decided to form a band called Off The Cuff.

Off The Cuff was a jamband with little to no vocals and a strong experimental feel. Danforth and Hall knew that Hall was destined for more than to play the bass since he was such a great songwriter and guitar player. They decided to look for a bassist to add to the equation so that Hall could take over as a Rhythm guitar player and a vocalist. Alex Hall turned to one of his friends from his Kung-Fu classes Tony Scheetz. Tony was an accomplished Jazz bassist with a crafty style and he meshed well with the three after a few practices. They also hired a percussionist by the name of Jeff Waters who was close friends with Johnson. Then one night after a successful practice they were discussing names for the band when Danforth glanced at the back of his amplifier. "4 ohms" he read. He decided this would be a great name for the band since there were four of them and they could play with the word "Ohms".

The Four Ohms took off on the Cincinnati scene and earned a name for themselves along the likes of other local bands such as Noctaluca, Rays Music Exchange, Halius, Acoustic Hookah and bigger bands such as Foreigner, Bad Company, Steel Pulse and JGB w/ Melvin Seals. After searching for a while they found a great keyboard player with a wild personality to match. He was Lon Korresell a keyboardist, guitarist and all around musician who contributed a great songwriting ability and a wild and crazy style of keyboard playing that if seen, could not be soon forgotten. Feeling unstoppable, the five went to Chillocothe, Ohio to record their first album at the Recording Workshop. After four grueling days the album was finished and "Big White Truck" was completed. The Ohms toured around Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana promoting their album and sold over 2,000 copies themselves by promotion and merchandise sales at shows. They lost their bass player Tony Scheetz and eventually hired a new bassist by the Name of Kevin Cooper.

The Four Ohms w/ Cooper and Korresel even managed to earn a Cincinnati Music Award for best Jamband of 2006. But Everything could not last. After Ohmstead 2006 Ohms members Lon Korressel and Kevin Cooper decided to leave the band. After the split original Ohms member Alex Hall also decided he wanted to split from the band and pursue his own project. Now without a bassist or a Keyboard player or a Rythym guitarist The Four Ohms decided to push on. They changed their name to "The Ohms" and hired on long-time friend and musical companion of the band Noctaluca and Black and Tan Carpet Band "Psycho D".

Now, The Ohms, containing its current members Danforth, Psycho D, Waters, and Johnson decided to storm onto the scene and make a name for themselves as not the bestjamband, but the best all-around band. They expanded their styles, Danforth created a whole new batch of songs and The Ohms hit the circuit hard in Cincinnati building their name. The Ohms have currently hired a new Keyboard player also from the band Noctaluca and just happens to be Psycho D's brother. Brandon Schlunt or we like to call him "Psycho B" is the newest addition to the Ohms and the 5 piece is now currently working on their first new album as a whole. Look for its release sometime in Mid- 2009.
