Mike has been writing songs for going on 2 decades now. He recently realized that songwriting is the thing he does best. For the past few years he has been focused on writing songs, as opposed to trying to pass for a rock star. Mike spent a good portion of his musical life with the band Grasshopper Pie. After a decade with those fellows, they split, although they're still buddies. After that Mike was determined to try to forge a musical identity that was his own. He has tried to shed the natural tendency to immitate his influences and forget about everything but what he thinks sounds good. Mike's hope is that his songs speak for themselves and that you can find something in them that makes you feel good or at least elicits a stimulating emotion. Whatever you think they are about is what they are about. Mike still gigs periodically. When he performs, he likes to have fun with live looping of his guitar, vocals and simple percussion. Mike has not completely burried his jam band roots in his performance, but his hope is that listeners walk away affected by the songs first and foremost.
